Woodhead Pass has remained closed after a car crash reportedly caused a fire that spread to surrounding moorland in the Peak District. The closure disrupted a key route between South Yorkshire and Greater Manchester while emergency services tackled the blaze and assessed safety risks.

The A628 was shut in both directions between the A57 at Hollingworth and the A616 at Flouch. Fire crews, police and National Highways were involved in the response, with drivers directed to use alternative routes.
