Kane Parsons is standing up for an artist after A24 attempted to copyright strike their Backrooms art
The Backrooms film produced by A24 achieved strong viewership, but the studio subsequently issued copyright removal requests against community-created artwork based on the Backrooms aesthetic. The dispute arose because much of the affected fan art drew from an original 2019 internet image that predated the film's production.
Following public criticism, A24 released a statement acknowledging the takedowns were automated enforcement and clarifying that the studio asserts no ownership over the foundational yellow wallpaper or derivative community works. The company indicated it would reverse the removal requests and reinstate the affected listings.
