Norwegian singer Sigrid spoke to NME backstage at Mad Cool festival 2026 in Madrid, discussing her lifelong pull between pop and rock and reflecting on bringing her 2025 album "There's Always More That I Could Say" to stages around the world. She described feeling honoured to perform on the festival's rock-heavy day alongside acts such as Halsey, Pixies, Interpol and Kings Of Leon, saying she has always sat "somewhere in between" the two genres despite proudly identifying as a pop artist.

She revealed the new record leant on influences including Scandinavian indie pop and French music, resulting in a guitar-heavier sound than her previous work, and cited admiration for bands like Muse alongside a past collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon. Sigrid also shared recent listening favourites, including Turnstile's "Never Enough" and Olivia Rodrigo's "You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love", and recalled fans moshing to her ballad "Dynamite" at a Norwegian student festival. Her world tour continues through North America, with further festival dates including Sziget still to come.
