Sydney Sweeney Is Officially Reviving a 200-Year Old Horror Classic

Collider · 3 hours ago

Sydney Sweeney is set to headline 'Hollow,' a fresh adaptation of Washington Irving's classic short story 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.' Lindsey Anderson Beer, who authored the underlying novel, will also adapt and direct the film for Sony Pictures, with a planned fall release.

The narrative reframes Irving's original around Katrina Van Tassel, who finds herself caught between two suitors—local Brom Bones and newcomer Ichabod Crane—whilst supernatural forces threaten the colonial settlement. Sweeney, who has built a notable track record in horror film, will also executive produce through her recently launched Honey Trap production company. The source material has spawned multiple film and television interpretations since its 1820 publication, including Disney's animated sequence, Tim Burton's 1999 reimagining, and a Fox television series.
