TechCrunch reporter Aisha Malik has reviewed the Dyson Hot+Cool HF1, a $499 bladeless 2-in-1 fan and heater that she used for three months in place of a separate space heater and ceiling fan. The device is designed to provide year-round comfort, offering heating in winter and cooling in summer from a single unit, and the review highlights its smart features and quiet operation as its main advantages over conventional appliances.

The HF1 can be controlled via onboard buttons, a remote, or the MyDyson smartphone app, which allows remote on/off switching, timers, oscillation adjustments and scheduling. In Sleep mode it runs at just 26 decibels with a dimmed display, and it offers oscillation angles of 15, 40 or 70 degrees along with an intelligent thermostat that maintains a chosen temperature. Its bladeless design makes it easy to clean and safer around children and pets, though the front casing can get warm during heating and it automatically shuts off if knocked over; notably, its cooling mode only circulates air rather than actually lowering room temperature, unlike an air conditioner.
