Netflix’s New 6-Part Crime Thriller Follows One of History’s Largest Murder Investigations

Collider · 12 hours ago

Netflix will release a six-part crime drama, *The Bombing of Pan Am 103*, on 30 July, dramatising the investigation into the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, which is described as the largest murder inquiry in Scottish policing history. The series traces the terrorist attack from the moment it occurred through to the international effort by Scottish and US authorities to identify those responsible, marking it out as a significant true-crime dramatisation of one of Britain's deadliest terrorist incidents.

Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie on 21 December 1988 while travelling from London to New York, killing 270 people, including 259 on board and 11 residents on the ground. The Netflix series features a cast including Peter Mullan, Connor Swindells, Patrick J. Adams, Merritt Wever, Tony Curran, Eddie Marsan and Kevin McKidd, and follows the joint Scottish-American investigation across 21 affected countries. It is not the first screen adaptation of the tragedy, following Peacock's 2025 series *Lockerbie: A Search for Truth*, which took a more personal approach centred on a bereaved father's search for answers.
