Woodhead Pass to Sheffield closed ‘until at least Monday’ due to wildfire
A major arterial route into Sheffield has been sealed off while firefighting crews work to contain a spreading moorland blaze in the Derbyshire hills. The A628 Woodhead Pass will remain closed in both directions through at least the beginning of the coming week as a safety precaution, affecting travel between Langsett and Hollingworth near Glossop.
The fire broke out following a vehicle incident on Thursday and has since expanded across the moorland terrain. Emergency services from both South Yorkshire and Derbyshire are actively responding to the incident, whilst a separate unrelated fire at Tintwistle has added to regional emergency demands.
