1 Year Later, the Fate of ‘True Blood’ Star’s Cozy British Mystery Series Is Officially Confirmed

Collider · 3 hours ago

Acorn TV has officially renewed its cozy art-world mystery series "Art Detectives" for a second season, ending more than a year of uncertainty following the show's well-received first run. The series stars "True Blood" actor Stephen Moyer as DI Mick Palmer, an antiques-loving detective in a specialised Heritage Crime Unit who investigates crimes tied to the high-stakes art world alongside DC Shazia Malik, played by Nina Singh. The renewal continues Acorn TV's pattern this year of bringing back several of its acclaimed British mystery titles for US and Canadian audiences.

Production on the new season is due to begin this month in Belfast and Northern Ireland, with a two-part special airing first in December, followed by a full six-episode season in 2027. Season one, which debuted in June last year, earned an 89% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes with storylines involving a fake Vermeer and Titanic artefacts. Moyer said he was looking forward to filming eight new episodes and reuniting with Singh and the production team in Belfast.
