M. Night Shyamalan’s 2013 science-fiction film *After Earth* will become available to stream free on Tubi from October. The film, which followed Shyamalan’s run of poorly received projects and was intended to showcase Jaden Smith, was widely criticised and became a notable commercial and reputational disappointment.

Directed by Shyamalan and co-written with Gary Whitta, *After Earth* stars Will Smith and Jaden Smith as a father and son stranded on a dangerous future Earth. It earned around $240 million worldwide against a reported $130 million budget, but received a 12% Rotten Tomatoes score; its marketing also surprised audiences by understating Jaden Smith’s prominence while suggesting a stronger focus on his father.
