17 Years Later, This Legendary Star’s Final Film Is Officially Streaming Free
Terry Gilliam's *The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus*, the final film completed by Heath Ledger before his death in January 2008, is now streaming free on Tubi. The fantasy drama had a fraught path to completion: Ledger had shot only a third of his scenes when he died, threatening to derail the entire production, since his casting had been central to securing its funding.
The film survived thanks to Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell, who each agreed to play alternate versions of Ledger's character, Tony, whenever he passes through the Imaginarium's magic mirror. All three actors donated their fees to Ledger's daughter, and the finished film was credited as "A Film From Heath Ledger and Friends" rather than under Gilliam's name alone. The cast also includes Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits, Lily Cole and a young Andrew Garfield.
