Country singer Waylon Wyatt, 19, says he is recovering after being hospitalised with sepsis during the release of his debut album, Dustpiles. The illness forced him to cancel several important performances, including his album release show, appearances in Montana and his planned Grand Ole Opry debut, underlining the disruption to an early career milestone.

Wyatt said he left hospital in Montana earlier in the week and travelled to Nashville to see specialists while staying with family. He has been in hospital since 17 July, and doctors were still seeking answers; he thanked supporters, said his priority was regaining his health, and promised to arrange a new Opry date and return to Montana when able.
