2026 Lucid Gravity Touring review: A strong act 2

Ars Technica ·

Ars Technica has tested the 2026 Lucid Gravity Touring, the entry-level version of Lucid's electric SUV, following its earlier reviews of the Lucid Air sedan. The Touring starts at roughly $82,000 in the US and offers less power and range than the pricier Grand Touring model, but the reviewer found that in everyday driving these differences mattered little, with the Touring proving more than adequate for typical use.

The Touring uses a 16-module, 89-kWh battery producing 560 hp and a rated range of 337 miles, compared with the Grand Touring's 123-kWh pack, 828 hp and 450-mile range. The test car, loaded with options including a 22-speaker audio system, third-row seating and advanced driver-assist tech, came to $107,200. Real-world testing yielded around 320 miles of range per charge, and rapid charging on a Tesla Supercharger took the battery from 15 to 95 percent in just 31 minutes, underlining Lucid's continued strength in charging speed.

In short

  • Lucid's entry-level Gravity Touring SUV starts around $82,000
  • Less power and range than Grand Touring, but feels sufficient in practice
  • Charged from 15% to 95% in 31 minutes on a Supercharger

Steelman: both sides, in good faith

The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.

The case for

The review validates that Lucid's Touring offers impressive real-world performance and range, whilst boasting industry-leading charging speed that proves practical in use. At $82,000 as a base model, it provides accessible entry to Lucid's luxury technology and prestigious brand positioning, with the vehicle proving more than adequate for typical daily driving needs.

The case against

The Touring's pricing places it squarely in competition with established luxury brands and proven electric SUV manufacturers offering comparable or superior specifications, proven track records, and stronger service networks. Combined with Lucid's well-documented production challenges and uncertain long-term viability as a company, the premium price lacks sufficient justification for buyers concerned with investment risk and resale value.

Explained simply

Lucid Motors is an American luxury electric vehicle manufacturer founded in 2007, initially known for the Lucid Air, a high-performance electric saloon. The company is now expanding into the sport utility vehicle market with the Gravity.

The Gravity Touring is the entry-level version of this new Lucid SUV, starting at roughly $82,000 in the United States. Like most automotive manufacturers, Lucid is offering a more affordable and less powerful model alongside pricier versions with greater range and performance, allowing it to reach a wider pool of potential buyers.

Entry-level electric vehicles have become increasingly important in the automotive market as manufacturers seek to build the sales volumes they need to sustain their businesses. How well Lucid succeeds with the Gravity Touring will affect whether the company can establish itself as more than a maker of ultra-premium vehicles.
