Battlestar Galactica, the darker 2003 reimagining of the 1978 series, has returned to streaming and digital charts more than two decades after its debut. Its renewed popularity underlines the lasting appeal of its politically charged, post-apocalyptic story of humanity’s war against the Cylons, machines created by humans.

The series is among the most-watched programmes on the Apple TV Store in the US and is also performing strongly on Universal+ in France. It ran for four seasons from 2004 to 2009 following a successful 2003 miniseries, holds Rotten Tomatoes scores of 95% from critics and 94% from audiences, and received a 21-disc Blu-ray collection in the US on 11 August 2026; the release is 1080p rather than a new 4K restoration.
