4 New Camera Tricks on Google’s Latest Pixel 11 Smartphones

Wired · 3 hours ago

Google has announced new camera features for its Pixel 11 smartphones, aiming to make photography and video capture more automated through AI. The changes matter because Google argues that software-led improvements, particularly in zoom and low-light photography, can help casual users take better images and potentially encourage deeper interest in photography.

A central addition is Magic Capture, a two-minute recording mode that uses Gemini AI to identify key moments and produce selected full-quality photographs while also saving 1080p video. Pixel 11 Pro users can use Video Boost to enhance that footage to 4K, while the Pro model’s zoom reaches 120X, up from 100X on the Pixel 10 Pro; Google says its zoom processing now also uses AI-generated pixels to add detail.

  • Pixel 11 adds AI-led camera tools.
  • Magic Capture selects photographs from two-minute recordings.
  • Pixel 11 Pro offers 120X zoom.
