Rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent has signed on as executive producer for a live-action TV adaptation of the video game franchise Payday, working through his G-Unit Film & Television company alongside developer Starbreeze and Vice Studios. The move brings a major music and entertainment name into the project, which was first announced earlier this year, and signals ambitions for a high-profile crime drama built on the popular heist-shooter series.

Payday began in 2011 with Payday: The Heist, which sold more than 400,000 copies in its first three months, and was followed by Payday 2 in 2013 and Payday 3 in 2023, alongside various spin-offs; Starbreeze says the franchise has now sold over 50 million units worldwide. No release date, cast, writers or director have yet been confirmed. 50 Cent is separately due to appear as Balrog in the Street Fighter film reboot, out in October, alongside Jason Momoa, Cody Rhodes and Noah Centineo.
