6 Coastal Horror Books To Read While Waiting for ‘Widows Bay’ Season 2

Collider ·

Apple TV's horror comedy hit Widow's Bay, starring Matthew Rhys as a mayor trying to boost tourism on a supernaturally troubled New England island, has been renewed for a second season. To help fans pass the time until it returns, Collider has compiled a list of six coastal horror novels that share the show's blend of small-town charm and eerie, seaside dread.

The recommendations include Scuttler's Cove by David Barnett, set in a Cornish village grappling with both gentrification and buried supernatural secrets; The Price Guide to the Occult by Leslye Walton, a YA fantasy about a Pacific Northwest island cursed by a wronged witch; and Eynhallow, a period piece set on Orkney in 1797 following a mother whose life is upended by a mysterious stranger. Each book draws on themes of curses, isolated island communities and folk horror that echo the atmosphere of Widow's Bay.
