7 Years Later, Marvel Officially Brings Back Blade for New Midnight Sons Series

Collider · 4 hours ago

Marvel has revived Blade in the comic Marc Spector: Moon Knight #6, positioning the vampire hunter as the first recruit for a new Midnight Sons team, seven years after the character's live-action film adaptation was first announced. The move offers Blade fans a rare piece of good news after a turbulent stretch for the character on screen, and reasserts him as a leadership figure within Marvel's supernatural storylines rather than a mere guest character.

The comic, released on 22 July 2026, follows Blade reuniting with Moon Knight before he pledges himself to answer whenever "the brand of the Midnight Sons is lit". This comes days after Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige admitted on the podcast Happy Sad Confused that he felt like "a giant loser and failure" over the collapse of the long-delayed Blade film, which was announced with Mahershala Ali in 2019 but has since cycled through several directors and writers before being dropped from Disney's release schedule entirely.
