8 Perfect Netflix Thriller Movies That Hooked Us in the First 5 Minutes

The article selects eight Netflix thrillers that it says establish tension within their opening minutes and sustain it through escalating danger or mystery. It highlights varied approaches, from a survival story with a strict time limit to a true-crime drama and a confined, pressure-filled remake.

In *Don’t Move*, a grieving mother tries to evade a killer as a drug gradually paralyses her, creating a 20-minute deadline. *Woman of the Hour*, directed by and starring Anna Kendrick, recounts serial killer Rodney Alcala’s appearance on a 1970s dating show, while *The Guilty* follows Jake Gyllenhaal as an LAPD dispatcher trying to help a woman who says she has been abducted. The article praises the films’ early hooks and sustained suspense, while noting that *The Guilty* is a remake of a Danish film.
