A classic Giger-inspired adventure game just got a sequel

PC Gamer · 4 hours ago

H.R. Giger's distinctive biomechanical imagery has long served as artistic inspiration for video game developers seeking unsettling atmospheric settings. Tormentum: Dark Sorrow, released over a decade ago, leveraged this influence alongside painter Zdzisław Beksiński's surreal work to create a hand-illustrated point-and-click adventure notable for its grotesque visual design and environmental puzzle gameplay.

A sequel has now arrived following an extended eight-year development cycle. Tormentum 2 functions as a standalone experience placing players within a simulated world experiencing systemic failure, where artificially intelligent inhabitants have begun exhibiting unpredictable behaviour. Players navigate interconnected islands whilst solving puzzles and discovering multiple narrative endings. Steam currently offers promotional pricing on both the new title and its predecessor.

  • Tormentum 2 launches as a sequel to the 2013 point-and-click adventure after eight years of development
  • Game draws visual and thematic inspiration from H.R. Giger's biomechanical art, featuring puzzle-solving in a corrupted digital world
  • Both original and sequel currently discounted on Steam
