‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ Book 6 Breaks Sarah J. Maas’ Release Day Record With 1.7 Million Copies Sold (EXCLUSIVE)
Sarah J. Maas’ sixth “A Court of Thorns and Roses” novel sold 1.7 million copies on its release day, setting a new record for the author. The result shows the scale of demand for the fantasy series after a five-year wait for its latest instalment, and it is currently tracking to be the year’s biggest book release.
The worldwide figure covers pre-orders and first-day sales of English-language print and ebooks at major retailers and independent bookshops in the US, Canada, UK and Australia; it excludes audiobooks and translated editions. Sales were 600% higher than the release-day total for the fifth book in 2021, and Maas has now sold more than 100 million books across three series. Book seven is due on 12 January, while a planned television adaptation was scrapped in 2025 and its rights reverted to Maas.
In short
- Book six sold 1.7 million copies on its first day.
- Sales were 600% above the previous book’s release-day figure.
- Maas’ three fantasy series have sold more than 100 million books.
