A Late ‘Pinky & The Brain’ Writer’s Movie Is Now Getting Made — by His Son and With Puppets
James Cullen Bressack is adapting Fuggedaboudit!, a play written by his late father Gordon Bressack, into a feature film performed with puppets. The project revives an unproduced screen ambition of Gordon Bressack, the Emmy-winning writer known for Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, and uses puppetry as a creative bridge between live action and animation.
The story follows a New York model with amnesia after a car accident as former partners, a mobster and friends try to reshape his understanding of his past. Gordon Bressack died in 2019, while the play was staged in Los Angeles in 2009 with human actors; the new film is casting, with Bent Wrist Productions, Jackie Smook Company and Sandaled Kid Productions attached.
