A Timeline of KATSEYE’s Lineup, From Forming on ‘Dream Academy’ to Hiatuses

Billboard · 2 hours ago

Billboard has published an updating timeline charting the lineup history of KATSEYE, the girl group formed in 2023 by HYBE and Geffen as the music industry's first "global" girl group. The six members – Sophia, Manon, Lara, Yoonchae, Megan and Daniela – were selected from tens of thousands of applicants through the competition series "Dream Academy" and went on to score multiple Billboard Hot 100 hits, but the piece traces how the pressures of fame have since led more than one member to announce a temporary step back from group activities.

The group's finale selection took place on 17 November 2023, with members drawn from the Philippines, Switzerland, South Korea and Indian, Latin American and Asian-American backgrounds, giving KATSEYE built-in international appeal from the outset. After their 2024 debut and subsequent hits such as "Gnarly", "Gabriela" and "Pinky Up", HYBE announced in February 2026 that Manon would take an indefinite hiatus for her health and wellbeing following the Grammys, where the group was nominated for best new artist. Manon later resurfaced as a guest judge on "Germany's Next Topmodel" in May 2026, while fellow member Sophia addressed fan speculation about the group's stability in June 2026.
