A Year After Charlie Kirk’s Death, Turning Point Plans to Spend Big on the Midterms

Wired · 10 hours ago

Turning Point, the conservative youth organisation founded by the late Charlie Kirk, is preparing to spend heavily on the 2026 US midterm elections, focusing primarily on New Hampshire, Arizona and Nevada while also deploying field staff in seven other competitive states. The push forms part of a broader Republican effort to counter growing Democratic momentum, driven by voter frustration over the Iran conflict and high living costs, at a time when President Donald Trump's approval rating has slipped to around or below 40%.

Sources told Wired that Turning Point's super PAC intends to spend between $15 million and $20 million on advertising in its three priority states, with additional tens of millions likely going towards field operations run through an affiliated nonprofit. Key races include the New Hampshire Senate contest between Republican John Sununu and Democrat Chris Pappas, and the Arizona governor's race pitting incumbent Katie Hobbs against Andy Biggs. The group's efforts complement other Republican spending, including a $10 million advert buy by Trump's MAGA Inc super PAC and at least $47 million reserved by a new entity, No Going Back PAC Inc, with Turning Point additionally viewing its work as groundwork for the 2028 presidential race.
