Aaron Paul Originally Had A Much More Important Role In Clayface
Aaron Paul’s role in the DC horror film *Clayface* was originally much larger, but most of his scenes were cut before the theatrical release. Director James Watkins says the change reflects a shift in the film’s focus, from Matt Hagen being defined by his abusive father to a more universal story about revenge and feeling wronged.
In the released film, Paul appears briefly as Hagen’s father during a sequence in which Hagen transforms into him while seeking revenge on a gang member. Watkins said the filmmakers decided Hagen’s past trauma did not need to drive the whole story; the remaining cameo may be clearer with that context, and could add emotional weight to the scene.
In short
- Aaron Paul’s larger role was mostly cut from *Clayface*.
