‘Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James Sets Debut Hour Stand-Up Special With Netflix

Janelle James has announced her first hour-long stand-up special, *How Romantic*, which will premiere globally on Netflix on 10 November. The release marks a new milestone in her comedy career alongside her best-known role as Ava Coleman in *Abbott Elementary*.

In the special, James covers topics including body counts, bank accounts and why women should wrestle men. She wrote, performed and executive produced it; Matt Schuler produced, and Marcus Russell Price directed. James has toured as a stand-up for more than a decade, released the album *Black and Mild* in 2017 and earned five consecutive Emmy nominations for *Abbott Elementary*.
