The Imagen Foundation has announced the full nominations for its 41st annual awards, with Apple TV's "Acapulco" leading the field on 13 nods across 25 categories covering film, television, documentaries, digital media and music. Actor, filmmaker and musician Andy Garcia will receive the foundation's lifetime achievement award, having also been nominated for best supporting actor in a drama for "Landman", while the "Acapulco" creative team and Apple TV will collect the creative achievement honour and Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis will receive the president's award for her public service record.
Best Feature Film nominees include "Belén", "Brownsville Bred" and "Miles Away", and the Best Actress race features America Ferrera for "The Lost Bus", Dolores Fonzi for "Belén" and Zoë Saldaña for "Avatar: Fire and Ash". Foundation president Helen Hernandez noted that the organisation could not present awards for Best Director, Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor in film this year due to a shortage of eligible submissions, calling it evidence of persistent under-representation of Latino talent on screen despite Latinos representing a $3 trillion audience. The ceremony will be held on Friday, 21 August, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
