ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann has said he is "less proud" of the albums the German heavy metal band released in the 1990s, describing it as a confusing period when metal seemed to have been eclipsed by grunge and flannel-shirted alternative rock. Speaking to Neil Jones of TotalRock, Hoffmann admitted the band changed its style significantly during that decade and would "rather forget the whole '90s". His comments coincide with the announcement of ACCEPT's 50th-anniversary release, which revisits the band's earlier, more celebrated catalogue.

Hoffmann was more forgiving of 1989's "Eat The Heat", a divisive late-'80s record he believes contained strong song ideas, one of which, "Hellhammer", has now been re-recorded for the new anniversary album "Teutonic Titans 1976–2026", due out on 4 September 2026 via Napalm Records. The collection features 19 reworked tracks from ACCEPT's 1980-1989 output and boasts around 50 guest musicians, including Rob Halford, Kirk Hammett, Philip Anselmo, Tobias Forge and Billy Corgan, alongside current ACCEPT members and singer Mark Tornillo.
