Accused teen killer’s own dashcam could prove murder of two girls mowed down, lawyer says: ‘not an accident’
New Jersey prosecutors have charged 18-year-old Vincent Battiloro with the first-degree murders of Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas, both 17, who were killed while riding an electric bicycle in Cranford. A lawyer for Niotis’s family says dashcam footage may help establish that the collision was deliberate, a key issue because murder charges require proof of intent.
Court records say Battiloro was driving at up to 70 mph in a 25 mph zone when his vehicle struck the girls from behind on 29 September 2025. Investigators reportedly say the recording shows him turning around to follow them; he was initially released after claiming he had been carjacked, then arrested and charged as an adult in June after police reviewed the footage. He is also accused of fleeing the scene, stalking Niotis and making false emergency calls to her family’s home; these remain allegations.
