Enlightenment 0.28 adds PipeWire and NetworkManager support
Enlightenment 0.28 has been released, nearly two years after its previous version, adding a substantial set of changes to the long-running Linux window manager. It matters to users who want a flexible, customisable desktop: Enlightenment remains an X11 window manager but can also serve as a Wayland compositor, and it now supports PipeWire and NetworkManager.
The project, which began in 1997, lists 68 lines of changes and adds preliminary NetBSD support. Enlightenment is aimed at experienced users and provides optional tools rather than a complete desktop. The article also notes Trinity Desktop Environment 14.1.7, which preserves the look of KDE 3.5, adds taskbar scrolling with the mouse wheel and supports Ubuntu 26.10 while dropping Ubuntu 24.10.
In short
- Enlightenment 0.28 arrives nearly two years after its predecessor.
- It adds PipeWire, NetworkManager and preliminary NetBSD support.
- Trinity 14.1.7 updates the KDE 3.5-based desktop.
