London producer Darren J. Cunningham, who records as Actress, has announced a new album, Radical Frame, due out in September on Ninja Tune. The announcement comes alongside a new single, "Overchord," and continues a prolific run for the veteran experimental dance artist, who has been releasing music under the Actress name for around two decades.

Radical Frame will include "Live By You," Actress's recent collaboration with grime artist CASISDEAD, as well as a track featuring Manchester producer Rainy Miller. "Overchord" itself shifts from a stark piano ballad into a heavier house beat with glitchy production flourishes, and arrives with a video directed by Anna van der Velde. The eight-track album is set for release on 18th September.

Actress is the recording name of Darren J. Cunningham, a London electronic musician and producer. Since the mid-2000s, he has made experimental dance music that draws on styles including house, techno and ambient music, often using unusual sounds and fragmented rhythms.

Ninja Tune is an independent British record label known for releasing electronic, hip-hop and left-field music. Cunningham’s work as Actress has appeared on several labels over the years, and he is regarded as an established figure in experimental electronic music.

The new record also involves CASISDEAD, a British rapper associated with grime and UK rap, and Rainy Miller, a Manchester-based producer and singer. Such collaborations bring together artists from different parts of Britain’s electronic and rap scenes.
