Adam Driver Says “the Ship Has Sailed” on Playing Kylo Ren: “No More ‘Star Wars’”

Adam Driver says he considers his time playing Kylo Ren over, after Disney rejected a proposed standalone film about Ben Solo. The actor said the project’s team had worked seriously on a script, but the decision was out of their hands; his comments suggest the character is unlikely to return to Star Wars.

Driver said he, director Steven Soderbergh, Scott Burns and Rebecca Blunt spent two years developing the screenplay for The Hunt for Ben Solo. Lucasfilm liked the idea, but Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman rejected it because they did not see how Ben Solo could be alive after The Rise of Skywalker. Driver praised fans’ campaigns supporting the film, while saying he does not expect it to proceed.
