Billboard ·

Dakota Cohen, 25, impressed Adam Levine and Riley Green with a piano-led cover of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” during The Voice’s Season 30 Blind Auditions. Both coaches turned their chairs, and Levine made a strong pitch before Cohen chose his team.

The song was first released on Black Sabbath’s 1972 album Vol. 4 and later became a UK chart-topper in a duet by Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne in 2003. After Ozzy Osbourne died in July 2025, “Changes” reached No. 42 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, giving Cohen’s performance added poignancy. She also recalled meeting Levine years earlier, when he gave her a thumbs-up after hearing her sing Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning”.

The Voice is an international television talent competition where coaches listen to contestants perform without initially seeing them. If a coach likes what they hear, they press a button to turn their chair around, signalling their desire to mentor the performer on the show.

Dakota Cohen performed a piano-led cover of "Changes," a rock ballad by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, originally released in 1972. The song gained added significance recently following the death of Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath's original lead singer, in July 2025, which led to the track charting again on music industry charts.

Adam Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5 and one of The Voice's most prominent coaches, was impressed by Cohen's interpretation of the song. The performance resonated particularly strongly given its timing, coming just months after Osbourne's death restored attention to one of rock music's most iconic ballads.
