Senator Adam Schiff has teamed up with conservative reality star Spencer Pratt and actor Jon Voight to build bipartisan support for a federal tax credit encouraging film and television productions to remain in the United States. The unusual alliance matters because the proposal has attracted backing from figures across the political divide, potentially strengthening its chances in Congress and with the White House.

The relationship between Schiff and Pratt began after disaster-relief legislation for victims of the 2025 Los Angeles fires passed Congress, including Pratt’s home being destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire. Pratt subsequently promoted the tax credit, helped alert Senator Tim Scott to the proposal and contributed to Scott becoming a co-sponsor; Schiff said he has pursued similar incentives for 20 to 25 years and worked with Republicans to finalise the legislation.
