Adobe is overhauling how editors work with AI inside Premiere Pro, adding a new Generative Media tool that lets users create video, sound effects, music and soundscapes directly within the project timeline. Rather than switching to separate browsers or apps to source missing footage or audio, editors can now highlight a gap on a video or audio track and generate a context-aware, fully editable clip without leaving their project, streamlining what was previously a disruptive workflow.

The tool draws on multiple external AI models, including Adobe Firefly, Google Veo, Runway, Luma and Kling, so editors can pick the style best suited to their footage. Adobe is also rolling out beta AI audio features for Premiere that can separate overlapping speakers, automatically duck music beneath dialogue, and adjust speech and ambience independently, alongside a new AI Assistant for After Effects that lets users issue plain-language commands to reorganise projects, troubleshoot technical issues and build effects without writing expressions.
