Adobe optimises three creative apps for Nvidia RTX Spark computers

Engadget ·

Adobe has rebuilt Photoshop, Premiere and Substance 3D Painter to run more efficiently on NVIDIA’s RTX Spark computers. The update is intended to speed up creative work and let users preview changes more quickly, while RTX Spark brings local AI processing to Windows laptops and small desktops.

Adobe says the apps are up to twice as fast for AI tasks and editing across workflows. Photoshop is designed to respond faster when rendering complex edits, Premiere gains speed in rendering, effects, AI editing and colour-grading, and Substance 3D Painter is quicker at texturing and handling large projects.

Adobe makes software used to create and edit images, video and 3D graphics. Photoshop is for images, Premiere for video, and Substance 3D Painter for adding surface detail and colour to 3D objects.

NVIDIA makes computer chips and graphics hardware, including RTX Spark systems, which are compact Windows computers designed to handle demanding creative work and run AI tasks locally. Running AI on the device can reduce reliance on sending work to remote servers.

The changes matter to people who use these tools for creative projects, as faster responses and previews can help them work through edits. The reported speed gains vary by app and task, and depend on the computer being used.
