Adria Arjona has said she had to “earn” her role in DC Studios’ forthcoming Man of Tomorrow, describing the opportunity as a reunion with James Gunn and Peter Safran rather than simply another major franchise part. Her comments matter because the studio has not yet officially confirmed which character she will play, despite reports linking her to Maxima and ongoing fan speculation about Wonder Woman.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con while promoting Adam Wingard’s Onslaught, Arjona said Gunn and Safran gave her her first film role around 13 years ago in The Belko Experiment. She recalled bonding with them during that production, including dancing salsa in Colombia, and said their longstanding relationship was a major reason for joining the project.
