Aerosmith return at the Hollywood Bowl for first time since 2023: Here’s their setlist in full
Aerosmith returned to the stage at Los Angeles’s Hollywood Bowl on 30 October, their first performance since their touring retirement was announced after Steven Tyler’s vocal injury. The one-off appearance offered a chance to perform again after their planned farewell tour ended abruptly in 2023, although Tyler’s condition rules out a full tour.
The show featured guest performances from Godsmack, Warren Haynes, Billy Idol, Sammy Hagar, Eric Church, the Black Crowes and Guns N’ Roses before Aerosmith’s set. The band played “Toys in the Attic”, “Back in the Saddle”, “Sweet Emotion” and “Dream On” with Dave Grohl on drums; Johnny Depp joined for “Train Kept A-Rollin’”, and Joey Kramer returned for “Walk This Way”. Aerosmith were scheduled to play the Bowl again on 1 November.
In short
- Aerosmith played their first show since their touring retirement.
- Dave Grohl, Johnny Depp and Joey Kramer joined the set.
- A second Hollywood Bowl show was scheduled for 1 November.
Explained simply
Aerosmith are an American rock band formed in the 1970s, with singer Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry among their best-known members. Songs such as “Dream On” and “Walk This Way” helped make them one of the most successful rock acts of their era.
The band planned a farewell tour, but it ended abruptly in 2023 after Tyler injured his vocal cords. The injury led Aerosmith to announce their touring retirement, although it did not rule out every possible live performance.
The Hollywood Bowl is a large outdoor concert venue in Los Angeles. A one-off show there matters because it marked Aerosmith’s return to the stage after the retirement announcement, while Tyler’s condition still prevents a full tour.
