Country parody singer Cledus T. Judd has found himself at odds with Sony Music after releasing a spoof of Ella Langley's hit song "Be Her," titled "Meet Her." Judd, who has spent roughly 30 years affectionately parodying country stars such as Shania Twain, Garth Brooks and Toby Keith, said he intended the video as a tribute rather than mockery, but Sony sent him a letter demanding it be removed from all social media platforms.

Judd said the request came as a shock given his lengthy track record of parodies, none of which he felt targeted an artist unfairly or exploited a difficult situation. He noted the personal sting of the demand, pointing out he was once a Sony recording artist and songwriter whose catalogue remains partly with the label, yet was still told to take the video down. Rather than escalate the dispute, Judd said he chose not to fight the decision, concluding simply that not everyone shares his sense of humour.
