The BBC’s six-part comedy series The Reluctant Vampire will premiere on BBC One on 4 October at 6.40pm. Based on Eric Morecambe’s 1982 novel, it follows Val, a human boy born into a vampire family, as he struggles with his identity and his father’s strict expectations.

Lenny Rush plays Val, alongside Tom Davis as his tradition-minded father Victor and Sian Clifford as his mother, Valeeta, who knows the truth. The cast also includes Gabriel Nagy, Bill Bailey, Ross Noble, Joe Wilkinson, Asim Chaudhry and Charlie Cooper, with the story featuring gargoyles, a werewolf, rebellious villagers and Val’s friendship with a local girl.
