Xia Siyuan to lead new Wuchang: Fallen Feathers sequel
Developing story first seen 4 hours ago
A sequel to soulslike game Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has been confirmed, with original creative director Xia Siyuan returning to lead development despite the collapse of the game's original studio, Leenzee. This matters because the project's future was in doubt after Xia departed Leenzee, which subsequently fell apart, leaving fans uncertain whether a follow-up to a game that had attracted over five million players would ever materialise.
Publisher 505 Games, owned by Digital Bros, acquired the Wuchang IP for roughly €4m back in April and will now fund and globally publish the sequel, which is in its preparation phase. Development will be led by Indolphinity (Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology), the new studio Xia founded after leaving Leenzee, and will remain based in China. Xia acknowledged criticisms of the original title, pledging to listen to player feedback and deliver a more polished, complete experience; the first game received a mixed-to-positive reception, including a three-star Eurogamer review and "mostly positive" Steam ratings hampered by early performance issues.
