Anne Hathaway is set to star in Paramount+'s six-part limited series "Fear Not," a true-crime thriller based on Julie Miller's Vanity Fair article "Sympathy for the Devil." The series marks a notably dark turn for Hathaway, following a run of high-profile projects including Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," "The Devil Wears Prada 2" and the Colleen Hoover adaptation "Verity," and continues her recent gravitation towards more psychologically complex, morally ambiguous roles.

Hathaway plays Margy Palm, the final woman kidnapped by serial killer Stephen Morin in 1981, whose faith and resilience shaped her extraordinary response to the ordeal, including later contacting and visiting Morin on death row to confront questions of forgiveness and accountability. Unlike many true-crime adaptations that centre on the perpetrator, "Fear Not" is reportedly structured around Palm's experience rather than Morin's mythology, with Palm herself said to have resisted adaptation offers for decades before agreeing to this one.
