A retired schoolteacher in her eighties has undertaken an aerial wing walk scheduled for late August, having qualified for the experience's upper age limit of 80 by a narrow margin. She will stand secured atop the upper wing of a restored 1940s biplane at a Lincolnshire airfield, turning 81 the following day.

Three other women, including her daughter who manages Thornberry Animal Sanctuary in Rotherham, will participate in the same daring fundraiser. The group seeks to raise at least £3,000 for the facility, which operates without government funding and requires over a million pounds annually to maintain its animal welfare operations.
