Ahsoka Tano is a former Jedi in the Star Wars universe, first introduced in the animated series The Clone Wars as the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker. She later left the Jedi Order and became involved in the fight against the Galactic Empire, appearing in both animated stories and the live-action series The Mandalorian.

The series brings together characters from Star Wars Rebels, which followed a small Rebel team before the events of the original Star Wars films. Sabine Wren is a Mandalorian fighter, Hera Syndulla is a Rebel pilot and leader, and Ezra Bridger is a young Force user who disappeared along with the Imperial commander Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Thrawn is a highly regarded Imperial strategist whose return is seen as a possible threat to the fragile New Republic formed after the Empire’s defeat. Anakin’s presence connects the story to Ahsoka’s past, as he later became Darth Vader, although Star Wars has previously shown him appearing to her through the Force.
