AI-Generated Music and the Future of Creativity Discussed at Billboard Latin Music Week

Billboard ·

At Billboard Latin Music Week, Spanish authors’ society director Cristina Perpiñá-Robert warned that AI-generated music could displace human creators, calling for rules that protect them. Her concern is that creators may be excluded from the music business as companies turn to synthetic music, even if licensing issues are addressed.

Perpiñá-Robert said Spanish creators are already using AI to enhance their work, but argued that regulation may not be enough to prevent job losses. Lawyer Pierre Hachar Jr. said many of his clients use AI and compared it with earlier production tools and streaming, which faced resistance before becoming commonplace. The discussion took place during the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Week, alongside the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
