More than 1,175 people had responded by the end of August 2026 to a public consultation on proposed airspace changes around Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA), as the company behind its planned reopening seeks to reinstate controlled airspace and establish new flight paths for passenger and cargo services. Fly Doncaster Ltd, the council-owned firm that would run the site, said it was pleased with the level of engagement, which it hopes will help refine the proposals ahead of a Civil Aviation Authority decision expected next May.

Three in-person consultation events have taken place so far, with two more scheduled for Thorne and Doncaster city centre later this month, alongside documents on display at venues including the Danum Gallery and Civic Offices. Doncaster Council says cargo flights could still begin by the end of this year even without controlled airspace in place, but the wider reopening remains uncertain amid ongoing lease negotiations with landowners Peel, with councillors warned in June that funding could run out this month; £160m from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority hinges on the lease deal being finalised.
