Akira Kurosawa’s Favorite Mystery Masterpiece Is Officially Streaming for Free
Harrison Ford’s 1985 mystery thriller *Witness* has been added to Pluto TV’s free streaming library this month. Directed by Peter Weir, the film marked a move away from the more populist roles for which Ford was known, and its story of a detective protecting an Amish mother and her son helped make it a distinctive entry in his career.
The film co-stars Kelly McGillis and Lukas Haas, earned around $120 million worldwide against a reported $12 million budget, and received eight Oscar nominations, winning for Best Original Screenplay. It holds a 91% “Certified Fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes and was among the favourite films of Japanese director Akira Kurosawa, according to a list compiled by his daughter.
