Alan Carr was moved to tears at the 31st National Television Awards in London after receiving the Special Recognition prize, capping a standout year for the comedian following his turn on The Celebrity Traitors. The award, the only category not decided by public vote, followed a Traitors-themed musical tribute featuring Paloma Faith, and came after Carr had publicly downplayed his chances of winning anything on the night.

The Celebrity Traitors, whose finale drew 15 million viewers within a week, also won the Reality Competition prize ahead of the original series, while Sir David Attenborough was named Best Presenter in his 100th birthday year, ending Ant and Dec's recent grip on the category. Other winners included Mrs Brown's Boys for Comedy, Clarkson's Farm for the new Celebrity-Led Reality Docuseries award, Vicky McClure for Best Drama Performance, and the BBC's Our Girls: The Southport Families, which honoured the families of the three girls murdered in the 2024 Southport attack.
