The former girlfriend of a man accusing Australian broadcaster Alan Jones of indecent assault has denied lying about his contemporaneous disclosure to her, and rejected suggestions she had been offered money to give evidence, during cross-examination at Jones's Sydney trial on Thursday. Jones, a veteran radio host, has pleaded not guilty to 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent involving six men, allegedly committed between 2003 and 2020 in Sydney and the NSW Southern Highlands.

The athlete at the centre of nine of the charges, now in his 40s, testified he met Jones around age 14 and was allegedly kissed without consent at 18, with further alleged incidents occurring during overnight stays and while driving with Jones in the Southern Highlands. His ex-girlfriend told the court he had confided in her about the alleged touching soon after it happened, and although she accepted some inconsistencies between her court and police statements, she firmly denied Jones's barrister's suggestion that the conversation never took place or that a message from the athlete promising to "look after" her amounted to a financial inducement. The trial continues, with a second complainant expected to give evidence on Friday.
