The agreement builds on the success of Ritchson's earlier Netflix film "War Machine" and marks the streamer's broader push to lock in Ritchson as a leading man, alongside a separate unscripted television venture he is fronting.
The MotoGP film will star Ritchson as a former racing prodigy recruited by Interpol to track down a gang of motorcycle thieves stealing priceless antiquities, only to discover the ringleader may be his brother, long presumed dead. The script comes from Chris Morgan, who wrote seven "Fast & Furious" films, with the project pitched as that franchise "with motorcycles" and produced alongside Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum of RK Films; MotoGP itself has signed on to consult. "War Machine" reportedly reached number 10 on Netflix's most-popular-movies list with 139.9 million views in its first 91 days, underpinning the studio's confidence in Ritchson, who is also attached to the Jaume Collet-Serra thriller "Maelstrom" and a survival competition series for the streamer.
