Alaska voter loses it after realizing he may have voted for wrong Dan Sullivan amid Democrat ballot scheme
A voter in Alaska’s close Senate race said he may have accidentally voted for a Republican candidate named Daniel J Sullivan, rather than incumbent Senator Dan S Sullivan. Reports suggest the similarly named candidate could split Republican support, while the contest between Sullivan and Democrat Mary Peltola could affect control of the Senate.
Greg Martone said he had not realised there were two Dan Sullivans on the ballot and wanted to check a sample ballot. A federal judge dismissed the Justice Department’s bid to require Alaska to separate ballots if the incumbent lost, ruling it had no standing and had not explained how this could be done without compromising ballot secrecy; the department is appealing.
In short
- A voter fears he chose the wrong Dan Sullivan.
- The Senate race between Sullivan and Peltola is rated a toss-up.
